Drs. Akre & Clark Eyecare is a growing full-service eyecare center serving the greater New Ulm community since 1950.  From the onset, staying on the forefront of technological advancements in eye diagnostics, frames and lenses innovations, contact lenses and surgical techniques has been an ongoing commitment.

This commitment not only provides our patients with options for ultimate vision, not only with their eyeglasses and contact lenses, but also with the early detection of eye disease, quality of life can be greatly improved. Every member of our staff is board certified, experienced and dedicated to our mission of offering our patients the finest eye health care available.

Our three doctor practice is fully equipped to handle full-scope optometry with a focus on managing ocular disease. We use state-of-the-art clinical equipment with on-site diagnostic instruments. We practice out of 8 exam lanes and 3 auxiliary testing lanes.

About the optometrist position

Our new optometrist will be a welcome addition to our team and family who is both personable and welcoming to our patients. A passion for eyecare and general patient health is essential to providing the best experience we can!

As an optometrist in our practice, you will be expected to:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams
  • Diagnose and treat ocular disease
  • Prescribe corrective lenses
  • Build strong doctor-patient relationships
  • Handle eyecare emergencies

We are seeking Position requires detail-oriented, quality-conscious people, dedicated to providing exceptional customer service with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment is a must.

Multilingual in Spanish and English will receive special consideration.

On-the-job training is provided. Qualified candidates must have proficient computer and typing skills, self-confidence, be a team player and good organizational skills.

  • Ability to use all piece of equipment, ex Visual Fields and OCT
  • Ability to perform Visual fields, fundus photo, OCT, Optos, Tonopen, Icare.
  • Order and maintain ophthalmic supplies, medications and ointments
  • Clean and sterilize rooms and equipment
  • Maintain rooms
  • Maintain supplies in rooms
  • Covering and uncovering instruments at the beginning and end of day.
  • Assist provider
  • Other duties as assigned

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Opticianry Duties
  • Provides patient with key technical information to assist them in making their eyewear selection.
  • Perform measurements of frame and lens specifications.
  • Proper documentation of all ordering information on patient’s chart.
  • Place orders for frame and lens fabrication with approved optical laboratories.
  • Maintains supply inventory for repairs / replacements & tools.
  • Order and return frames as needed, replacing sold / outdated items
  • Notify customers when glasses have arrived.
  • Verification of orders received from optical laboratories.
  • Consult with patient to resolve eyewear problems / concerns.
    • Perform customer maintenance on eyewear as requested
    • Awareness of insurance rules, payer responsibilities and patient responsibilities. Know your resources to obtain the right answer, process claim billing
    • Appropriate coding of services offered to maximize the facilities reimbursement.
    • Keep abreast of current fashions, styles and trends
    • Keep updated on continuing education for new product, product recall and optical options
